The reason is simple: as an editor, you can at times be a graphic designer of moving pictures.
By knowing the very basics of graphic design (Texture, grids, color, typography, etc.), you'll be able to create better graphics and framing for your clients. Especially if you're in the YouTube or digital media space where motion graphics are piece added to many videos.
